An original poem from one of our guests - John, Verneuil-en-Bourbonnais, France January 2008

And here is what his wife, Terry had to say:

What is man and what is power?
All things pass away
The flutes are sprung, the harps unstrung
The songs of old are long unsung,
They had their day.
What are glory and loveliness?
All things pass away
The shattered lute falls to the floor,
The star of love is no more.
They had their day.
Now the jade terraces are still.
The Autumn mists are drifting chill.
Cold and casual the moonlight falls
Into the long-deserted halls.
Those that loved and revelled must
Long ago have fallen to dust.
The taste, the warmth, the creativity - and I'm not just talking about the food but also the house and especially the hosts.  Thank you for all of the above.

This has been a fabulous three days!  The great accommodations are surpassed only by your hospitality.  WE feel like you are old friends.

We are delighted to find this wonderful rest on our flying journey!  Thanks to Ed for rescuing us at the airport - we're only sorry to have missed Christine. The house is beautiful, furnishings are lovely and I appreciate all of the extra touches of hospitality.

We are already planning another visit... We also wanted to compliment you on your cooking.  We know you joked that Christine's meals were better, but you (Ed) did an exceptional job on your own.  Thanks again for all your kindness, time and care.  It was nice to not only have nice accommodation, but to get to know you as well...

This has been wonderful. The bed was very comfortable, breakfast was always a real treat and your hospitality was greatly appreciated.  We hope to stop by and say HI when we are in the area again.  Thanks for making our visit so great.

Cornucopia is everything we had hoped it would be, very comfortable, tastefully decorated, a fabulous breakfast and above all, both of you are gracious, wonderful hosts.
Since our main reason for being here was to attend Grandparents day at Taft, your location and proximity to the school is excellent.
It is a great pleasure and an honor to meet both of you!

Mary and I have stayed at many inns but we have never enjoyed the whole experience more than at your inn.  Each breakfast was delicious, the room was very comfortable and you made us feel like part of the family.  We hope it won't be long before we return to the Cornucopia.

What an amazing 2-day escape.  Your hospitality, with attention to every detail was warm and efficient.  We particularly enjoyed our chats but the rest: exquisitely furnished home, inviting pool, and beautifully kept grounds made our visit so memorable that we both shall return with our husbands.

Thank you so much,

We had a wonderful time at the Cornucopia at Oldfield. The room was beautifully decorated with lots of light coming in from the windows and the fireplace made it feel so cozy and warm. The bed was as if you were sleeping on clouds. I sat out on the private balcomy one day watching my son and my husband playing in the falling leaves and just enjoying the wonderful view. The food was delicious every morning, and I especialy loved having fresh fruit each morning with my breakfast. The keeping room has a big fireplace and we looked forward to sitting by the fire with a cup of hot tea. The innkeepers are warm and welcoming. They made us feel like part of the family. They were so accomidating to our needs and wants. They gave us great information about what to do and where to eat. We also took a drive around the area and stopped by a Christmas Tree farm that was just down the street. Our visit to Southbury was one of the best vacations we have ever had and we will be returning again next year.
