Rates:
Rates
vary depending on the size of your group, the time involved
and the food requested. The use of the rooms/grounds
is basically $3 per person per hour for the time the group
is there and $1 per person per hour for preparation and
clean-up time (typically an hour each). So for a half
day session (3 hours) for 15 people the facility charge
would be $165. For a whole
day (8 hours), the facility charge for 15 people would be $390.

When the Department of
Energy was considering developing a rationing system
in the event of a petroleum embargo. Ed convened a diverse
group of professionals – lawyers, economists, psychologists
and energy analysts – to review the system planned and to
identify weaknesses and potential pitfalls. In two days
they generated a document that was well received by the
Department and led to reconsideration of key parts of the
White Market for Gasoline Rationing. |
When Battelle Memorial
Institute wanted to develop their strategic plan, Ed
was part of a two-man team that convened sixty of the
organization’s senior scientists and engineers to identify
the organization’s strengths and opportunities. This two
day session involving over 60 people was the basis for the
development of the laboratories strategic plan. |
When ExxonMobil’s
Caribbean group needed to develop a modernized
marketing plan for it gasoline retailers, Ed organized a
series of workshop with senior sales executives to identify
and prioritize new marketing initiatives.
|
To develop an Emergency
Response plan that covered multiple contingencies, Ed lead a
group of senior ExxonMobil
managers in a half-day workshop to review a draft
response manual to determine if there were any
inconsistencies, areas in need of improvement and ways to
streamline the management communication and response. |

What Others Have Said
About Meetings at Cornucopia at Oldfield:
Ed was well prepared for our
strategic planning workshop. He
brought a lot of energy to the session that helped us quickly
map our competitive environment; a critical first step in
developing a new plan. And the documentation
prepared– Kathy Bower, Attorney and
"The
Pomperaug River Watershed
Coalition has had a number of strategy sessions at the
Cornucopia at Oldfield. We could not have had a better set up
for our small group to think through tough questions and come up
with creative solutions. Maybe it is something about the 180
years of history that gave us the perspective we needed. Then
again it could have been the gracious hospitality of Christine
and Ed."
Marc Taylor, MD, Chairman, Pomperaug River Watershed Coalition
"Our
board of directors used Cornucopia at Oldfield for a board
development and strategic planning workshop. We found the
atmosphere highly conducive to a focused and rewarding meeting,
with the flexibility and privacy we needed. The food and service
were exemplary. In short, the day met our needs perfectly."
Sarah Griswold, Executive Director,
The Glebe House Museum
"I Have had
several business events at the Cornucopia at Oldfield. The
atmosphere and comfortable feeling in the facility was perfect
for the meetings and gave the attendees a quite and undisturbed
medium to work in. This unique facility puts the attendees in an
relaxed frame of mind. The home cooked food was
excellent and prepared in a timely manner. I plan to
continue to schedule my meeting events at the Cornucopia at
Oldfield."
